Christmas Vacation is Here

The kids will have their Christmas party today. Both are excited to spend time with their classmates. They also anticipate their exchange gifts.

Today is also the beginning of their two-week Christmas vacation. Since they are off from school activities, they are free to do whatever they want. They can watch DVD movies all they want. They can even stay up late.

My son has already planned the movies and TV programs he will watch. My daughter, on the other hand, will be busy sketching. She is now experimenting with applying colors to her drawings. I prefer that they are busy with indoor activities than spend time outside. I worry that they, especially my son, will get into trouble with other kids.

Vacation also spells trouble between my kids. They fight over minor things. You know what it is like to be in the middle of a crossfire. Kids.

I’ll try to have additional sleeping hours and ample time to accept opps during this period.

Mall-hopping

We had fun mall-hopping last night. We checked for gift items the kids will bring for their Christmas party on Friday. Hubby initiated to take us to the newly-opened SM Hypermart in Quezon Avenue along EDSA. Only a handful of shoppers were there, so it was easy for us to roam around. We bought some items at the Daiso Japan store where prices are reasonable for the quality of products. For example, a stainless mug with a cap only costs P88 when it costs P100 or higher in other stores. We headed to the supermarket on the same level of the building and bought Taisan bread, a pair of slippers, three pieces of handkerchiefs, hair clips and napkins, and CDO Pista Cooked Ham. The ham comes with a free plastic plate with a Christmas tree design on it.

We transferred to the adjacent Trinoma mall, where we finally got my son’s gift, a Spongebob fluffy key chain and another Spongebob metal keychain worth P124.75. My daughter was undecided about what to give her monito, so she bought a watercolor pencil at National Bookstore for her art hobby. And for me, I got a copy of “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. I hope I will be able to find time to finish the book before the year ends.

Our mall trip may be short but, it has given me time to unwind and our family to bond for the day. Kids enjoyed window shopping. They were making a mental list of things they want for Christmas Day.

This week, hubby and I plan to check out a thrift or second-hand store along Quezon Avenue. Our thrift store here is called Ukay-ukay in our local dialect. Didn’t I tell you that most of hubby’s signature pants and shirts were from Ukay-ukay. I love the Capri-style pedal pants from the store because they are comfortable to wear. I might blog about it next time.
